Laurie Smithwick In 2013, Laurie set out to change her complicated, yet inevitable relationship with screens. The goal was to make interacting with technology more meaningful. To do less consuming, less curating, and more creating. The led to the launch of Step Away from the Screen and Make Something, an online community that celebrates the act of doing. Aside from being someone who appreciates a good dose of irony, Laurie is also a Grammy-nominated designer, the Creative Director and founder of LEAP Design, and a co-founder of Kirtsy. She lives in Charlotte, NC with her one husband, two daughters, and three cats.
