Getting your profile picture just right can be a frustrating and time-consuming process. You don’t want to look like a model, but you also want it to look a little better than your personal Facebook profile picture. You want it to show your readers who you are, to have a bit of personality, but to be professional enough that you’re also comfortable showing it to clients and sponsors. This can be a little tricky.
Here are a few ladies who have got the art of profile picture picking figured out, and a few tips on how you can master the elusive skill as well.
The Top Knot
Up-dos can be tricky for profile pictures. If you’re not turned toward the camera at the exact right angle, there’s a chance you will look bald. Not with top knots though. Just move that do up a few inches and you’re safe. And since they’re all the rage right now, and there are so many variations of the hairstyle, you can look stylish and unique sporting a top knot in your profile picture.
Relaxed
Don’t over do it. Always wear your hair curly? Then don’t straighten it for your profile picture, and vice versa. Your readers want to see you; they want to connect with you. Choose a hairstyle that will help you feel comfortable, relaxed, and most importantly, like you! It will show in your photo.
Low + Loose
Again, pulling your hair back into a ponytail can be tricky. Another safe option is to keep it low and make it loose. Let some of the hair fall around your face for a casual and classy look.
Add Something Fun
Your readers, clients, and sponsors will come to know you by your profile picture. Use it as an opportunity to show off your fun personality. Throw on a fun hair accessory, sport a style that you’ve become known for (like Natalie and her bang braid), or do something that helps show what your site is all about (like hair curlers for a beauty blog). Keep it simple, keep it fun.
