Winter is coming. January’s big conference will be here before you know it! And December gets busy. So before we are all distracted with twinkle lights and hot cocoa, here are a few things to remember as you prepare for Alt Summit Winter:
Accommodations
If you have not already, now is definitely the time to get all of your accommodations in order. Check with the Facebook group if you’re hunting for a roommate, and feel free to ask attendees from earlier years if you are needing hotel advice.
If you have booked a room at The Grand America Hotel, you will want to take note of this policy change: to ensure that all the rooms held in our block stay in the Alt family, you have until January 10th to cancel your sleeping room (or the extra room you reserved) without a penalty. Any cancellations after January 10th will pay one night’s room and tax. So please take time this week to finalize those plans.
We have a handful of rooms available in our block at The Grand America. But note: just a few! So call the hotel and ask about the Alt Summit room block if you are still looking for a place to stay. We are crossing our fingers that the new room cancellation policy may open up a few additional rooms in our block at The Grand America throughout the month.
Business Cards
Passing out business cards is practically a sport at Alt! So consider this a reminder to get your cards printed and ready to go. Every year, we receive a lot of questions about how many cards attendees should order, and really it comes down to your personality and goals. If you want to use your card as an icebreaker and give it to everyone you come in contact with, then bringing 200-300 should be about right. On the other hand, if you’re not much of a card exchanger, 50-100 may be enough. No matter how many cards you bring, we hope you’re having fun creating them. We’re already excited to see what you come up with!
Sponsor Connections
Interacting with sponsors before the conference even starts is a total pro move. If you want to get on the radar of a sponsor before Alt Winter, we highly recommend using the social info that comes with your Alt Mailings. Each present comes with a card that includes appropriate hashtags, contact information, and sometimes a little contest. So use that info, and jump on your favorite social platform to give a public thank you for the fabulous gifts. And while you are saying hello + thanks, you can ask for a meeting during the conference as well. The best news is, if you think you are perfect for a sponsor, than that sponsor is as eager to meet you as you are to meet them.
By the way, if you have not been receiving Alt Mailings, make sure that you have checked the “share information with sponsors” in your registration form.
