Heading to Salt Lake City this month for Alt Summit Winter? Over the next two weeks, Carly Morgan of Ever Clever Mom, a Salt Lake City local, shares five best lists, from breakfast spots, late night snacking, to unique photo opportunities, and more. We start her series off with five secrets for out-of-town travelers.
1. UTA TRAX
The city’s light rail system is easy to use, clean, affordable, and can get you most anywhere you’d like to go. You can catch a train from the airport directly to the Grand America hotel for less than $3 (Courthouse station) and most of downtown is a free fare zone.
2. Harmons City Creek
This downtown grocery store is absolutely beautiful and has a great selection of local foods and grab-and-go meals (along with anything else you might need to pick up). The easiest way to get there on foot is to take the pedestrian tunnel from the food court at City Creek shopping center.
3. City Cab Company
If you need to leave the downtown area, SLC has taxi services but it’s fairly impossible to find them on the street. Your best bet is to grab a taxi at the hotel using front desk services or call City Cab directly (801.363.5550).
4. Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum
If your family will be traveling with you, this children’s museum is one of the most popular places for visitors with young children. The planetarium is located nearby as well.
5. Mother Goose of Utah
Another resource for people traveling with children, this business provides babysitters and a rental service for things like strollers, high chairs, and cribs. You can also take advantage of their grocery delivery service whether you’re traveling with kids or not!
