As social media influencers we have the ability to positively impact our communities. We can rally followers behind a cause.
At Alt Summit, we launched Alter Your World in 2013 to engage our community in making a difference in the lives of women around the world. We have since teamed up with fashionABLE twice, co-hosting scarf design contests, to make a difference in the lives of women in Ethiopia.
At Alt Winter 2014 during a surprise keynote, Christy Turlington, Mariam Naficy of Minted, Heather Armstrong of Dooce, and Christiane Lemieux of Dwell Studio introduced our community to Every Mother Counts, a campaign to end preventable deaths caused by pregnancy and childbirth around the world. And we have loved seeing how our community has gotten involved, for example, Melissa Bahen of Lulu the Baker collected supplies for safe birth kits to be sent to Uganda.
Join us on Twitter and let’s chat!
Often the hardest part of making a difference is knowing where to start. So, let’s talk about it. Join the Alt community and our co-host Bridgewater Candles, on Twitter Wednesday morning (tomorrow) March 4th at 9 AM PT/12 PM ET for an hour-long chat about doing good and making a difference in our communities. We will be talking about what giving back means to you, how to use your blog to make a difference and engage your followers in a cause, and more.
New to Twitter chats? You can find all the details on how to participate in a live Twitter chat here.
As a special thank you to participants, Bridgewater Candles will be giving one U.S. resident a prize pack of Mingle Candle Tins and a Mingle-patterned Journal, a $75 value! Visit Bridgewater Candles and share your email by Friday, March 6th at midnight EST to win.
