If you’re headed to Salt Lake City in less than two weeks, you may be thinking about what to bring and how to pack everything. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite tips from previous conferences.
Thinking of traveling light? By light, I mean checking all your bags? Kelly shares a cautionary tale about packing everything in your checked bags. Erin of Design for Mankind, like Kelly, has had checked bags go astray. Here are her top ten things to include in your carry on. (If you want to pack sparingly, Jensie Jean has tips on how to make two carry on sized bags work for Alt.)
Before you get overwhelmed, know that there are really only two things you need to bring to Alt Summit. Can you guess what they are? Don’t worry, Erin of E. Cooper Studio tells.
Rather not think about packing? Nicole of Making It Lovely packs your bag for you. And Denai of Petunia Pickle Bottom shares what should go in your carry on. With the exception of mittens, which might be a little too warm, it’s a great checklist. Be sure to check out Gilit of Shoes Off Please and The Bannerie for tips on what not to pack, lug around.
Here are a few Alt Summit packing lists, use them as is or as a starting point for your own:
- This packing list from Emily of The Freckled Fox covers makeup, accessories, emergencies, clothing, and tech.
- This survival guide from Ez of Creature Comforts covers what you should bring when attending sessions, tips for introverts, and a streamlined packing list.
- Once you’ve got the basics identified, check out the wardrobe planner and packing list from Kelly of Design Crush. With her help you won’t over pack.
What to Wear?
Need inspiration for a wardrobe that covers the Pre-Internet Party and the Pink Picnic Party? Amber Housley’s Alt Winter 2013 attire could be perfect! She includes a few black and white and pink outfits.
Wondering if everyone is dressed as if they’re walking the red carpet? Asia of The Sparrow’s Nest shares her PNW/Seattle lady look for daytime (hint her signature style includes flannel), and Cyd of The Sweetest Occasion takes jeans and comfortable riding boots and adds pops of color with accessories.
