Are you easily recognizable? Can people contact you if they need to reach you? Guy Kawasaki shared four tips during his Alt Summer 2015 keynote that will have people deciding if you’re the right fit for them and adding you to their roster of people to contact for collaborations and other opportunities. For more depth, as well as examples, on each tip check out the video of Guy’s closing keynote for yourself.
1. Perfect your perspective.
The more clear you are about exactly who you are and what you have to offer, the more people are able to decide if you are right for them in a matter of seconds. When someone decides to follow you on Instagram they won’t research your blog, check out your Facebook page, or read all your previous posts. They will just quickly scroll through and decide.
2. Perfect your avatar/profile picture.
The idea of an avatar is to convince people that you are likable, trustworthy, and competent, the best way to accomplish this is by using a clear headshot that is asymmetrical, front lit, and consistent.
3. Perfect your cover photo.
This should tell a story that reflects what you want to people to know about your blog or business. It should use the optimal dimensions for the platform, and it should not be a cheesy stock photo. However, if you need to use a stock photo, check out stocky.com for natural and beautifully taken photos.
4. Perfect your card.
More and more people are using digital programs to scan business cards into contact keepers like Evercontact. Using big fonts, having a scalable surface, and including a cell phone number will help those who want to contact you to do so effectively. Guy also suggests including all your business card information as a signature for all emails.
