Over the next three weeks, we want to get to know you better! We’re starting on Twitter this week December 16, 2015 with Blogger Fashion: Getting Creative with Your Outfits when You Work from Home. And then we’ll close out December with your accomplishments and proudest 2015 moments (December 23, 2015) followed by your upcoming goals and plans for 2016 (December 30, 2015). We can’t wait!
Be sure you subscribe to our upcoming events on Facebook; you won’t want to miss an opportunity to bond with fellow Alt community members or connect with a sponsor. All #AltChat Twitter chats start at 9AM PT/12PM ET/5PM GMT and last an hour. They’re super casual, so don’t feel bad if you can only join for a few minutes or jump into the conversation later.
Having Fun with Fashion
To get you thinking about fashion and what you might wear to Alt Winter 2016, be sure to check out this post with interviews with your favorite lifestyle bloggers on what the fashion is like at Alt!
If you’d like a little more guidance, Nicole of Making It Lovely shared her guiding principles for attendees. But whatever you do, have fun with fashion! Because, when your clothes reflect your personality, your wardrobe can actually make meeting new people a breeze!
Getting Comfortable with Twitter
You may be wondering: why Twitter? Because it’s the best place to meet experts and to observe until you’re comfortable. Regularly scheduled Twitter chats, like #AltChat invite strangers to listen to topics they’re familiar with and participate in an active conversation. It’s perfect for introverts!
New to Twitter? Refer to our How Does It Work: Twitter post from earlier this year for some basics. Then once you’re set up, read our tips for How to Participate in a Live Twitter Chat.
Twitter chats can move quickly. As we’re getting to know one another, be sure to favorite memorable responses. At the end of the chat, you can quickly scan through the tweets from all the participants and see if they’re attending Alt Winter 2016. (Compare their names against the member list for the private Alt Winter 2016 Facebook group we created.) An easy way to keep track of who you’ve met at a Twitter chat is to create a chat specific Twitter list and add people after each conversation.
