Are you ready?! The ultimate guide to your week in Palm Springs — the Alt Summit App — is ready to download! Now you can view the schedule, plan your entire week, learn about each speaker, swap contact info, and connect with fellow attendees all with a quick swipe.
When you’re ready:
- Go to the Android or iPhone app store and search for “Alt Summit.” You’ll recognize our happy yellow logo.
- Download it (it’s free!) and you’ll know it’s the right one when you see a blue sky and palm trees.
- After you download the app, it will ask you to Sign Up. This is so you can see the content, plus chat and connect with all your fellow attendees. It’s up to you how much information you want to provide, but keep in mind, that this app is only for registered attendees and your information is totally safe. If you have the app from last year, use your same log-in info.
- Once you’ve filled in your profile, it will ask you to choose an event. Choose: Alt Summit 2020. Select join now and it will ask you for a passphrase. The passphrase was sent to your inbox in our newsletter. If you didn’t receive it, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
On the schedule, you can see what’s happening by day or by subject. Click on the title of any item on the schedule to see the full description, including the speakers. Click on the speaker’s name to read the bio and find a link to their website. Start to build your own personal schedule by touching the + icon next to anything that you’d like to attend.
If you’re totally overwhelmed by the choices (don’t worry!), you can filter what shows up. Under the Schedule tab, touch the funnel icon in the top right corner. This will allow you to search by “tag.” You’ll see these colored tags show up under the title and location of each session. Want to see everything being taught on marketing, podcasting, and video? Toggle those tags, and classes that fit that description will appear. Want to see all the classes happening at the Saguaro Hotel? Toggle the “Saguaro” tag.
You can also search by speaker. If there’s someone you’re dying to hear, click on their name in the speaker section. Under their bio, you’ll see any and all sessions they are teaching.
Along the bottom of the app you’ll see these options: Events, Connections, Shake, Messages, Me. Use Connections to make friends with other attendees. You won’t need Shake until the conference, it will allow you to quickly exchange contact info with other Alt-goers. You can use Messages to DM any attendee you’ve connected with. And if you need to edit or change your profile, you can do that in the Me section.
Over the next few weeks we’ll be adding new sections to the app — maps, info about food and shuttles, parties and meetups, and sponsors. We’ll also be regularly updating changes to the schedule, so be sure and check in every so often — use the refresh icon (the circle arrow) to make sure the info is up to date.
