Here’s the thing, if you’ve never come to Alt Summit before you might not know that included in your ticket price are a bunch of perks (or bonuses, benefits, goodies, what have you) that we plan throughout the week. One of the most popular perks we’re bringing back to the conference? Professional headshots and portraits. Here are five opportunities that you can take advantage of (watch for location and shooting schedules on the app):
Headshots & Portraits
1. Justin Hackworth — Professional Headshots Justin has been at every single Alt Summit over the last ten years. We’re so happy he’ll be back this year to capture more of YOU. Justin will be shooting Monday through Thursday at the Riviera. If you’d like to see yourself through Justin’s lens, you’ll reserve a spot in person on the day of the shoot. 2. Erin Brant — Delightful Double Exposure PortraitsErin will be taking portraits of attendees and layering them with the incredible colors and textures of Palm Springs. She shoots the double exposures on film, so every photo is a delightful surprise! 3. Jami Milne — The Creative Confessional Pop-up Igloo Portrait Studio Enter the clear igloo-like experience to sit and engage in conversation with the photographer and share your creative confession. Images are created during the interaction that serve as a pinnacle moment in time, establishing a promise to move forward creatively.
4. Sheryl Peña — VW Mobile Photo Booth
Sheryl will be joined by Sven, a fully restored 1970 classic Volkswagen bus, that has been updated to a state of the art photo booth. You’ll be able to immediately print photo strips to take with you.
5. Donna Moncur & Victoria-Riza — Join a high fashion-style celebration of YOU and YOUR beauty! Pose for a photograph shot by Donna Moncur and for a quick painted portrait by Victoria-Riza. Photos and portraits will be displayed for the week on our “mood board” because YOU will be our fashion inspo for all the seasons!
Check the app schedule for Headshots & Portraits listings to find more details. In addition to the photography options above, you’ll also find opportunities to have an artist make a paper-cut portrait of you, or sketch your outfit, or paint a portrait of you high-five-ing another attendee. So much excellent art!
Art Walk
Speaking of excellent art, in the app, you’ll see an Art Walk icon. This year we’re featuring a variety of installations from fourteen incredible artists that will be scattered throughout the venues. We’ve been seeing sneak peeks on Instagram and holy cow, we’re all in for a big treat. You can look forward to murals, stage backdrops, interactive installations, and live art. We encourage all attendees to talk an Art Walk and visit all 14 art pieces.
Passport Program
The Passport Program is back! If you’re not familiar with it, here’s how it works: Using the Passport Program icon on the app, you’ll visit each sponsor booth and complete a “challenge”, which will earn you a passcode. Complete at least 15 challenges (don’t worry, they’re fun! and they’re an ideal way to connect with sponsors) and you’ll be entered into the drawing for a luxe designer handbag.
Book Signings
The author book signing schedule is now live! When you’re scrolling through the app Schedule, click on Bookstore & Author Signings to find out which authors you can meet on which days. Author signings happen right inside the pop-up bookstore that you’ll find at the Riviera. Books will be available to purchase.
Please note that Keynote Speaker Shannon Watts will be signing her book, Fight Like A Mother, at 10:00 AM on Tuesday — right before her Keynote Presentation.
Food
If you came to Alt Summit last year, you might remember the lunch tickets. Turns out they were confusing and not helpful. So we ditched them this year. (Thanks for the helpful feedback!) For lunch, plan on eating at whichever venue you’re at when lunch time arrives. So if it’s 11:30, and you just finished a workshop at the Saguaro, go ahead and stick around the Saguaro for lunch.
But there’s one exception: On Tuesday, boxed lunches will be provided at all three venues, and you’ll need to pick one up before you head to the Lunch Keynote (which you won’t want to miss!). So if you’re at the Ace on Tuesday morning, grab a box lunch before you head to the Riviera. Same thing if you’re at the Saguaro.
Food and snacks are available throughout each day, and details are under the Food icon on the app — but if you miss an official meal, please know there is always food available to purchase at the venue restaurants.
Shuttles
Free Alt Summit shuttles will be making a loop among all three venues during the conference. Attendees last year said they were a fantastic place to meet new folks and have interesting conversations. We love the shuttles, but it may be helpful to think of them as public transportation — the price is right and they’ll get you where you need to go, but if you’re in a hurry, you might want to grab an Uber, or hitch a ride with a fellow attendee who brought a car.
Shuttle hours are:
Sunday 1-6pm
Monday 8am-6pm
Tuesday 8:30am-6pm
Wednesday 8:30am-5:30pm
Thursday 8:30am-5:30pm
Oh. And if you are planning to bring a car, good news: Parking is free and plentiful at all three Alt Summit venues.
Mother’s Room
Need a quiet place to pump? Or feed your babe-in-arms? Head to the Desert Conference Center at the Riviera where you’ll find a Mother’s Room — comfy seating, a water pitcher and glasses, and a table for tote bags and supplies.
