No seriously, how are you feeling? We hope your answer is healthy and safe. We’re now two+ weeks since the beginning of the conference, and as of now, we haven’t had any attendees report back to us that they have tested positive for covid-19. This is of course good news, and we hope it stays that way.
We are dedicated to doing everything we can to ensure our community’s safety and well-being, so if you attended Alt Summit and have learned you have a covid-19 infection, we ask that you self-report back to us at hello@altitudesummit.com. Don’t worry, we won’t share your name publicly — we just want to keep our community informed and aware.
A couple more thoughts on the pandemic: Like you, we are stunned at how quickly circumstances and recommendations regarding covid-19 have changed. In the days leading up to the conference, we sought advice from experts on whether or not we should cancel Alt Summit 2020, and the consensus was 100% that we should move forward. But a week later, that had changed. On Friday, March 6th, as Alt Summit-ers were traveling back home, we heard word that SXSW would cancel their upcoming conference. It was the first major cancellation to hit the news, and we realized that if Alt Summit had been scheduled even a week later, we would have cancelled too.
At some point we may look back and conclude we should have cancelled despite the recommendations we received — but of course we can’t turn back time. So we’re going to hope for continued good health for our community members and their loved ones, and we’re going to feel gratitude that we were able to be together in Palm Springs. We deeply understand the value of in-person events and get-togethers, and keenly feel the loss of being with our friends and neighbors while we all commit to social distancing and flattening the curve.
We are thinking of you, and we have been furiously prepping and uploading the keynote videos to share with you (seven videos in all!). We’ll be announcing them on Instagram this week as we upload them — and hopefully they’ll offer you some learning and inspiration while you’re at home.
