Good news! Lisa Congdon will be our Opening Keynote speaker for Alt 2025! Lisa is dazzling and an ideal guide for the Alt Summit community. She fearlessly tries cool things, learns new skills, and makes career pivots. But maybe best of all? She has a history of generously sharing her process, and her beginner attempts, right out in the open, so we can watch and improve along with her. She makes everyone who witnesses her braver. We love her and if you don’t know her yet, we know you’ll love her too.
Lisa is an internationally known fine artist, illustrator and writer. Lisa makes art for clients around the globe, including The Library of Congress, Target, The U.S. Postal Service, Wired Magazine, Amazon, Google, Smith Optics, Warby Parker, Method, Comme des Garcons, REI and MoMa, among many others.
She is the author of ten books, including Art Inc: The Essential Guide to Building Your Career as an Artist and Find your Artistic Voice: The Essential Guide to Working Your Creative Magic.
Lisa is self-taught and didn’t achieve momentum in her career until she was nearly 40 years old! Despite her untraditional path, Lisa has achieved recognition, not just as an artist, but as a leader in the industry for her work in social justice, mentoring and teaching. In March of 2021, she was named “One of the 50 Most Inspiring People and Companies According to Industry Creatives” published by AdWeek.
You can visit Lisa’s popular shop on her website or at Cargo Emporium in Portland Oregon. When she’s not making art, you can find her racing her bike around Oregon. She lives and works in Portland.
Congdon will be speaking on the Alt Keynote Stage on Saturday morning at 9:00 AM, and she will be signing books at the Alt Summit pop-up bookshop directly afterwards. It will be an inspiring beginning to the conference.
